Hello

Born and raised in Pensacola, my love for the Panhandle runs deep. For the past decade, I’ve been dedicated to serving this community through grassroots organizing, advocating for freedom, and working to create safe spaces for all.

Now, I’m ready to take the next step and bring our collective voice to Tallahassee.

My Story

Hi, my name is Haley Morrissette and I am a social worker, activist, community organizer, and mother. In all of the roles I fill, I am taught what it means to live and work in District 2. I know how amazing and supportive our local community can be, but I have also seen many of the people I work with fall through the cracks left by our current representatives.

I grew up in Pensacola, Florida, a place that’s shaped my understanding of community and the power of collective action. With divorced parents and not always being the most economically stable, I was raised by a village, one that instilled in me the values of resilience and solidarity. These early experiences ignited my passion for social work and activism, leading me to earn a Master’s in Social Work from the University of West Florida, where I honed my skills in providing support and resilience to individuals navigating trauma.

My journey into social work and activism wasn't a choice, but a calling. The glaring inequalities and systemic issues I saw around me couldn't be ignored. Working as a trauma therapist and crisis counselor for six years, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of policies on mental health and overall well-being. This experience has fueled my determination to fight for change at a legislative level.

The births of my two sons, Dante (12) and Nickolas (9,) were pivotal moments that propelled me into grassroots organizing. I realized that the future I wanted for them required active engagement in creating a better world. The issues that drive me to seek political change are deeply personal and community-centered. I’m passionate about mental health reform, affordable healthcare, and criminal justice reform. These aren’t just political buzzwords to me; they’re real issues affecting real people in our community.

As a representative, I believe in creating change through inclusive, grassroots strategies. I plan to leverage my national organizing experience, to implement initiatives that ensure freedom and liberation for all Floridians. My approach includes listening to the voices of our community, advocating for comprehensive policies, and holding those in power accountable.

Together, we can build a future where every Floridian has the opportunity to thrive. Let’s create the change we need, straight up.
